OneSource Comment Policy

Updated July 30, 2018

1. What kind of comments are you looking for?

We are interested in articulate, well-informed remarks that are relevant to the article. We welcome your advice, your questions and your unique insights

Our standards for taste are reflected in the articles we publish. A few things we won't tolerate are : personal attacks, obscenity, vulgarity, profanity (including expletives and letters followed by dashes), commercial promotion, impersonations, incoherence and SHOUTING.

To be approved for publication, your comments should be civil and avoid name-calling.

We love to engage with you. After all, it’s the interaction between writer and reader that makes blogging so awesome.

2. Why do you moderate readers' comments?

Our goal is to provide substantive commentary for a general readership. By screening submissions, we have created a space where readers can exchange intelligent and informed commentary that enhances the quality of our information.

While most comments will be posted if they are on-topic and not abusive, moderating decisions are subjective. We will make them as carefully and consistently as we can. Because of the volume of reader comments, we cannot review individual moderation decisions with readers and generally cannot alter a comment once it is posted. We hope that if you feel you gave a qualified post, you will not give up but will post again in the future, and understand that mistakes do happen.

3. How do I write a comment?

First of all: We love comments and appreciate the time that you, our readers, spend to share ideas and give feedback. Thank you to everyone who comments on our OfOneSource.com site.

One-word comments like “Cool!” or “Thanks!” While we appreciate the congrats, we’d love to hear more about what exactly you love, and (even more importantly) why. After all, we want our comments to be as useful as possible to all of our readers. Many times it is the comments that give us new questions to share with our Spirit TEAM, and thereby new topics for future articles. Yes, you may well see an article you inspired by your sharing.

If you are writing a comment, please be thoughtful, civil and articulate. In the vast majority of cases, we only accept comments written in English; foreign language comments will be rejected.

4. Can I post an article or story on Of OneSource?

We do accept some article from individual authors that we believe will encourage, uplift, our readers either mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually. Also those which enhance the understanding of readers as they attempt to reach higher in their own personal journeys.

5. Why are comments closed on an OfOneSource article?

We have a small staff who are very busy doing many things. The vast majority of comments are reviewed by a human moderator. Because of this, the number of comments that we are capable of moderating is limited. Typically, comment threads are open for about 7 to 14 days, (1 or 2 weeks). After that point, we move to newer blog postings. It is unfortunate that some of these discussions do not have the chance to further evolve, but the benefit is that we're able to at least host a comments section.

6. Do I have to register?

You don't, (At this time, ) simply sign in as using the default "GUEST" with a valid email. However, excessive abuse may force us to change this in the future.

7. When and where will my comment be displayed?

Since comments are moderated, they do not appear on the site until they have been approved. Comments are typically posted within 24 hours. Moderation can be less frequent in the evening and on weekends. Comments are displayed directly below articles and blog posts. We reserve the right to display comments in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, within the text of articles.

8. Do you edit comments?

No. Comments are either approved or rejected. We reserve the right to edit a comment that is quoted or excerpted on OfOneSource.com . In those cases, we may fix spelling, grammar or punctuation only.

9. I found an inappropriate comment. What do I do?

Post a new comment listing the identity of the offending comment, and tell us the reasons you believe it should be removed and submit the report. Our moderation staff will review the comment again.

10. Should I use my real name and location when making a comment?

Using your real name is not required. We understand that many readers do not wish to be publicly identified, and we support your desire to protect your privacy. However, posting your location will help us gather a better understanding of how location may effect a viewpoint. We recommend against posting your full email address, for security reasons. The email we request as a part of the form IS NOT posted or made visible to others.

A reminder: Once your comment is published, it can be found in search results on websites like Google and Yahoo. We may occasionally use the email address you have listed in the form area for a follow-up interview with you. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.

11. What about criticism?

We welcome opinions and criticism of our work, and do not hesitate to approve critical comments. Authors are usually not professional authors but people willing to share their information in hopes of helping others. They will learn from thoughtful critique. However, personal attacks against our staff or Authors, will not be permitted, and any criticism should relate to the article in question. Generally, we will not allow comments to become bogged down with discussions of our moderation policies, and we will moderate accordingly.

12. Why didn't I get my confirmation email?

NOTE: The confirmation email feature is not being used as we test the blogsite. WHEN it is made active, THEN:

The confirmation email is sent automatically, but it may take a little while before it arrives in your Inbox. Also, you may want to make sure that we have your current email address associated with your registration. In addition, please be sure that the email notification checkbox underneath the comment submission form is selected for each of your submissions.

Sometimes things just do not work as planned and our server, the relay servers, the internet, or the dark forces of the universe may cause some emails not to be sent. If you think you are having problems receiving email from OfOneSource.com, please contact us through our Email contact form.

13. Can I use a different display name for some comments?

You are free to change your display name. However, in the future, these changes may apply to your previous comments.

14. What if I see an error in an article? What is the best way to suggest a correction?

We appreciate it when readers and people quoted in articles point out errors of fact or emphasis and we will investigate all assertions. To avoid distracting other readers, we won't publish comments that suggest a correction.

NOTE: Temporarily, you may post these suggestions as a SEPERATE comment for ease of use, however, we won't publish any comments that suggest a correction so do not ADD a correction to another comment (thereby having 2 comments in one form,) you wish to have posted.

Questions and Comments on articles or blogs may also be emailed to us using our contact form.
