Trust the Light

Trust the Light

I am in my 70's and I have never seen anything like the COVID pandemic. It affects the whole world in ways that reach far beyond physical health, to things like this:

Stay home, social distancing 6' minimum - means I cannot hug my grandchildren, have a workout with my friends at the Y, or even go shopping at a flea market. Where is the fun in that?

Wear a mask - and this is the weird part, it is to protect others, not yourself. Are there people doing it? You bet! First responders like police, EMTs, and fire fighters. The hospital staff are all wearing the heavy duty kind to protect themselves as well as all their patients. Now my identity is compromised in a unique way. Yes, some ladies have made fashion statements by making their own, but my glasses get fogged and I can't see where I am going at the Winn Dixie.

Then there is the retirement funds. You see, I don't work a regular job. A huge percentage of those people are either marooned (oops! That was supposed to be furloughed) or have lost their jobs entirely. The hardest hit are the Mom 'n Pop type stores. They simply don't have the resources to hold on. And my retirement check got a lot smaller than I thought it would.

So what do we do? First, realize we are making a new version of what daily life means. Those who choose to sit home now and not be proactive might not like what they see happening to their worlds.

Second, take a good look at your soul. The eternal part of you. Have you paid any attention to your choice of spiritual view? If you don't know who God is yet, this is the perfect time to meet the One who created all of us.

Since I don't want to step on any religious toes, I often refer to God as The Light. Something anyone can understand: necessary for life, essential for the planet ... you know. When you can trust in The Light, you can be more resourceful yourself. Decisions are not as hard. Following up on them will be doable instead of impossible.

So, Trust in the Light - because God is already trusting that you will do your best.
